Reading the Book
Then, we will read the book Alphaprints: Magical Creatures by Roger Priddy.
This book introduces young children to different magical creatures by using colorful creatures and rhymes. This book also uses real objects such as fruits, and vegetables to shape the individual creatures in a fun and creative way. This will be a small part of our during the story activity. While we read the rhymes, we will also pick out one object within the picture that is recognizable (a cone, strawberries, or a feather).
Concluding activity
For our concluding activity, we will spend time playing with edible play-doh. This will be made and colored before the program. Using melted marshmallows, powdered sugar and food coloring, to create this non-toxic and edible play-doh. Two colors will be given to each child and they will be encouraged to play and form shapes. The play-doh will be given to each participant to take home.
